CAMP on Tour is a great way to get out and about around Devon and Cornwall, meeting members and joining in some fantastic member-led events. In 2023/24 CAMP will be organising three CAMP on Tour events, open to members and prospective members.

An afternoon of making and meeting, free and open to all. An excellent way to meet artists in the region. And you can also take a look at CAMP’s current group show ‘UNDER / OVER’ which is in the G12 Gallery at Krowji, open between 11am – 4pm.

MAKING INKS FROM NATURE
With Ione Maria Rojas
Artist Ione Maria Rojas will be running a drop in workshop making inks and watercolours from plants, food waste and earth pigments. All materials provided.
Ione Maria Rojas is an organic artist and food grower. Her multidisciplinary practice includes: digging clay, making inks and pigments with found and foraged materials, walking, drawing, writing, facilitating, sowing seeds and listening to birds.

LANDSCAPE PERFORMANCE DISCUSSION
With Delpha Hudson
Workshop discussion with artist Delpha Hudson exploring how artists are using local sites and landscapes for performance and collective actions. Bring your ideas for a lively discussion.
Delpha Hudson is an artist whose work aims to create conversations about women, visibility and equality. Her work from the late 90s onwards tackles political and contemporary issues surrounding mothering, mental health and care.

As part of CAMP’s commitment to widening inclusive ways of working, we now have a small travel post available for each CAMP In Person event. There is up to £20 available for one CAMP member (you must be a CAMP member) for whom the cost of travel to this event would mean they could not attend.
All you need to do is email CAMP info@camp-membership.org saying you’d like to apply for the Travel Pot money for CAMP on Tour. Please send your email by 16 October 2023. A name will then be drawn out of a hat and the person notified.

THIS EVENT IS IN THE PAST!
A day of workshops and networking activities connecting artists in Exeter with: CAMP members; the Phoenix Creative Hub artists and any potential new CAMP members in Devon and Cornwall.
There will be a Pinhole Camera workshop in the morning, followed by refreshments and then onto ‘Not Speed Dating’ – an afternoon of fun and informal networking. All the activities are free, but places are limited so make sure you book – details below.

WORKSHOP 11AM - 1PM
MAKE A PINHOLE CAMERA WORKSHOP, plus create a Solargraph and Other Pinhole Processes.
With Nicola Westlake
In this workshop you will learn how to make a pinhole camera from empty drink cans and create a solargraph that captures the transition of the movement of the sun, and you will also work with a process to produce digital style pinhole images using your mobile phone.
Materials are provided and a mini zine will be available to take away which details the pinhole camera process.
Bring your mobile phone (if you wish) for use in the workshop.
LUNCH 1PM - 2PM
Free refreshments, no need to book, but it will be first come first served! Stay and chat after the workshop, or come along at 1pm for refreshments before the ‘Not Speed Dating’ event in the afternoon, or just pop in for the refreshment hour!
NETWORKING 2PM - 4PM
NOT SPEED DATING
The event starts at 2pm and will be facilitated by members of CAMP Moving Image/Lens Based KIN group. There will be timed rotations starting at 2pm, and approximately at 2.45pm and 3.15pm and artists can join in any or all of these sessions where they will speed-date in rotation with a number of other artists per session. Everyone will be provided with a ‘Dance Card’ to swap details and icebreaker prompts to start chats, if wanted (the sequence may be adjusted dependent on numbers).
A fun, informal and friendly way to meet other artists and creatives!

There is a steep slope from the street leading to the main entrance and a flight of stairs up to the front door. More level access is possible by approaching from Exeter Central Library on Castle street. Step-free access to the building is available via a ramped entrance on the side of the building.
The side entrance is equipped with automatic doors.
All ground floor spaces are fully accessible with a mix of level flooring and gentle ramps. The days activities will take place on the ground floor. Level access to accessible toilets is available on all floors. The accessible toilet next to Studio 74 do not require a radar key. A radar key is required for the accessible toilet on the ground floor next to the Workshop and the first floor accessible toilet; the key is available from the box office. There are gender neutral toilets available in Studio 74 and on the first floor.
